Insect Nutrition and Metabolism

The field of insect mass rearing for food, feed, and biotechnology is rapidly expanding. Efficient and sustainable production requires a deeper understanding of insect nutritional needs and of how diet shapes insect physiology, health, and performance.
Our lab investigates how the gut mycobiome, the fungal community associated with insects, influences these nutritional interactions. Using molecular, genetic, biochemical, and metabolomic approaches, we study how insects and fungi interact and how these interactions affect insect growth, metabolism, and adaptation.
Our goal is to generate fundamental knowledge that can be translated into innovative and scalable solutions for insect-based industries.
